Katherine Dolma
Born and raised in Homer,
Alaska. An environmental activist since
a young age, participating in beach
clean ups since she could walk. At 10
she won her Bronze Award in Girl Scouts
for publishing and writing a book on
Women Scientists of Kachemak Bay. At
12 she won the Silver Award in Girl
Scouts for her efforts in Homer's beach
clean up. Most recently she and a group
of friends, called EcoLogical, won
the Presidential Environmental Youth
Award for their work in reducing waste
to Homer's Landfill and creating
awareness in their community about
recycling and promoting environmentally
friendly habits. She is looking forward
to high school and creating recycling
systems for businesses in her community
and reducing waste to Homer's Landfill.
Adi Davis
Adi Davis has
been interested in the
environment since she climbed
her first tree. So far in
her young life, she has helped
publish a book, which garnered
her the Bronze award in Girl
Scouts and grew organic food for
the local food pantry for which
she was awarded the Silver award
in Girl Scouts. Last year
Adi was a Youth Delegate at the
9th World Wilderness Congress in
Merida Mexico. As part of
Ecological, a local youth
environmental group, she
assisted in their efforts to
reduce waste at the Homer
Landfill and create awareness in
the community regarding
environmentally friendly habits.
Ecological recently won the
Spirit of Youth Award and the
Presidential Environmental Award
for these efforts. She is
currently excited to enter her
second year of high school and
continuing her efforts on
reducing waste in the Homer
Landfill by working with local
schools to recycle and eliminate
Styrofoam trays.
